For my Gold Award, my Gold Award Mentor and I co-created a book called Even Orphans Dream. This second part of my Gold Award compares and contrasts the life of young girls in Kenya to the life of young middle-class girls living in the United States.

 

I have been working with Kathleen Tucker and her organization, TUCKLETS to put together select stories and photos from volunteers who traveled to Africa to help raise awareness. This book was designed to assist Ms. Tucker provide information about Ms. Tucker’s “Tucklets” non-profit orphanage program in Africa, while sharing these heartfelt stories.
